A group of former Geneva counselors from 1992-1993 began talking about a staff reunion to mark 15 years since our summers at camp. In reminiscing about those days together and the blessing of being used by God in the lives of the kids, we decided we wanted to give back to camp somehow. "What better way," we thought, "than to help send more kids to camp to encounter Christ, his love, and Christian community?"
1992 was Jon Mark Schoon's first year at Camp Geneva as Program Director. In fact, it's the year he was officially dubbed "Grandpa." His influence in each of our lives has been significant. In his honor and memory, we thought one of the best ways to give back to camp would be to help send more kids to camp through one of our and Jon Mark's favorite activities back then - dodgeball. Dodgeball was one of his regular games with counselors and kids, and one we all loved. The "Grandpa's Games" idea was born.
In partnership wtih Jon Mark's family and Camp Geneva, we have created this annual event to raise scholarship funds to help send kids to camp.
